Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation
![]() Dear Friend, We are fortunate to have a strong community hospital – our hospital – right here at home. Whether it’s a visit to the emergency department, test, appointment or a hospital stay, most of us can be at the hospital within minutes. As the hospital’s Chief of Staff and a local physician, I am thankful we have people like you willing to give towards new medical equipment. Donations paid for the recent important addition of a digital imaging system for x-rays, CT Scans and ultrasound. This has allowed for faster diagnosis and initiation of treatment. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the opening of the dialysis unit, a life-supporting service that also relied on community giving. Your donation is needed again today so those who need care during the holidays and everyday have access to the latest medical technology. I am writing to ask you to help us buy two cardiac monitors/defibrillators each costing $18,000. We are using this equipment more and more for patients who need monitoring after a heart attack, stroke, surgery or other serious illness. If the patient’s heart rhythm dramatically changes these monitors not only notify staff, but an electric current from the defibrillator brings the rhythm back on track. They are invaluable during a code blue, while moving critical patients to the intensive care unit, and transporting people to other hospitals. Another piece of equipment needed is a video laryngoscope that will cost $10,000. You may never have heard of this and I am hopeful you will never need it. The laryngoscope is essential to the emergency physicians and staff for viewing the patient’s airway while inserting a breathing tube. It provides fast life support, ease during a traumatic intervention and reduces the chances for further complications. On behalf of the physicians and all of the hospital staff at our Midland and Penetanguishene sites, thank you for your continuous giving. We are the ones who request this medical equipment to improve your care and rely on you and the community’s support each year. I guarantee your investment is making a difference. The equipment I described today will cost almost $50,000. This letter has gone out to repeat donors like you who understand how important giving to our hospital and our own health care is. With so many generous people in our community, your gift of $50, $100, $250 or whatever amount you can give, will combine to reach this goal. No matter what the size, it is appreciated and will help support our fundraising efforts. I know you have already given, but please don’t set this letter aside. We all deserve to be home for the holidays. This equipment gets patients home and back with their families. For those who must stay, you will be helping to provide them with the very best care. Sincerely, ![]() Dr. Peter Cameron Chief of Staff P.S. For a list of all of the equipment needed this year please call the Foundation at 526-1300 ext. 3138. Our apologies if this letter crossed paths with a recent gift, or if it was sent more than once. Please feel free to pass it on to a friend. |
